Top picks for the Dreamforce week
7 minute read
With Dreamforce approaching, many of us are planning our week in San Francisco to get the most out of it. The extent of sessions and activities may seem overwhelming, and therefore I wanted to share my key picks for the Dreamforce week. Hope you find these useful for your own planning!
Start your day inspired and full of energy
Due to the time difference, many of us European visitors wake up early in the morning. For the first time, Fluido and Digitalist Group & Network will arrange the Dreamforce Jetlag Lounge event that starts on Tuesday and Wednesday at 07:30. On Tuesday at 08:00, Jari Salomaa, Head of Product at Salesforce, will give his recommendations and tips for the Dreamforce week. On Wednesday at 08:00, we will have a panel discussion together with our Nordic customers St1, Finnair, and Skanska to discuss Dreamforce and Salesforce in general. We offer free organic breakfast on both days.
eCommerce will be even bigger
With the recent acquisition of Cloudcraze B2B eCommerce and previously Demandware (now Commerce Cloud), I expect that the presence of these solutions will be big at Dreamforce. For B2B commerce, it will be interesting to see some practical examples (especially in connection to Community Cloud), as many b2b and channel sales companies have this on their roadmaps. Relating to Commerce cloud, it would be very interesting to see how it connects with the rest of the Salesforce platform delivering an end-to-end connected customer experience. Below are some interesting sessions on these topics:
Commerce Cloud Keynote: Connecting Commerce to Every Channel
Propel your Manufacturing Business with Omnichannel Digital Commerce
B2B Commerce + Community: How Cummins & Ecolab Drive the Path to Purchase
Roadmap sessions
During the roadmap sessions, Salesforce shares their view on the future enhancements and capabilities for their solutions. For many existing Salesforce customers, these are really the “meat” of Dreamforce and something that you can bring back to your teams. Make sure you can attend the sessions relevant to you, as these are normally not recorded for viewing online. Many of the roadmap sessions will run several times.
Here are some of the roadmap sessions:
- Community Cloud Roadmap & Vision
- Field Service Lightning Roadmap: The Future of On-Site Customer Experience
- ROADMAP: Marketing Cloud + Google Analytics 360
- Pardot’s Product Roadmap: The Future of B2B Marketing and Beyond
- Commerce Cloud Roadmap
- What’s New with Salesforce CPQ and Billing: Roadmap Sneak Peek
- The Lightning Platform Roadmap – Part I & II
- Sales Cloud Roadmap
- Service Cloud Roadmap
Integration
With Mulesoft being the latest big acquisition, I am interested in hearing more about the solution and seeing some practical examples with different use cases. Down the line, I expect a lot of synergies between the Integration Cloud and the rest of the Salesforce platform. Below are some interesting sessions on this topic:
Intro to the MuleSoft Anypoint Platform
Behind the Scenes at the LEGO Connected City with MuleSoft and Salesforce IoT
Sales Cloud & MuleSoft: Build Your System of Engagement Inside Salesforce
Create Seamless Omnichannel Experiences with MuleSoft
AI and CPQ
The benefits of artificial intelligence in product configuration and pricing are very interesting if you are evaluating or further developing your CPQ solution. Also, the session on CPQ by our customer Wärtsilä and partner Tacton is worth attending.
Implement Intelligent Pricing with CPQ & AI
Time-to-Volume is Critical in a Diverse Market — Learn how Wärtsilä accelerated
Other interesting sessions
A lot is happening in banking in general and especially in the Nordics. This session is particularly interesting for me:
Banking on You: How Banks Can Thrive by Putting People First
The future of retail and connected experience is also very interesting — especially with some US examples for us here in Europe. Here are a couple of interesting sessions on this topic:
Future of Retail w/ Chip Bergh, Levi Strauss & Jennifer Hyman, Rent the Runway
Tailoring the Perfect Shopping Experience with Marketing and Service Cloud
Fireside Chat with Gartner and Mercer: Top Trends in Digital Experiences
Free time
Remember to book some free time to walk around the expo. It is usually less crowded towards the end of the week. You can find us at the Infosys booth.
If you have some spare time outside of Dreamforce, I recommend renting a bike and taking a tour over the Golden Gate bridge to the small town of Sausalito. There are many bike rentals offering this package.
Look forward to meeting you in Dreamforce!
